Man!! There is nothing you desire after a sexy ‘ adrak ki chai ‘ and drizzles falling all around. As I was walking ahead in the pathway, something strange.. a kind of a strong magnetic force pulled me down the memory lane, into my graduation days, where I could see myself having a cutting chai and simultaneously trying all possible combinations of holding a plate of hot yummy dhoklaas so that I can have one hand free to satisfy my watering tongue eager to have them all at a single go. Kis kis ko satisfy karein? While I was completely involved in solving my current problem, I could hear some noises around me. Uff!! Shanti se kha bhi nahi sakte. After I was done, I realized the people who were spreading the noise pollution were two of my very close friends. I tried to focus on what they were saying, though I missed most of the conversation I could make out they were discussing about a fight that happened last night between aditi and vivek( the two best singers of our college) over something. And as obvious, I knew nothing about the fight topic, therefore, I tried to deviate the topic from vivek to prabodh bhaiya ( my then college crush ) . These issues seemed so interesting then.
Anyways these stupid issues can go on and on and on, let me introduce two of my very good friends of under graduation to you. Sasha and ads (aditi). Hold on ‘I’ am also to be included. Sasha, the key to all your problems, is a darling. A sweet girl with the most amazing and cute kiddish traits. At time she would sit on her bed like a baby and would order, shouting, "yeh la dooooo, woh la doooooooooo, yeh karooooooo, woh karoo" and most of the time she would be the one managing the entire household. This "mostly confused yet very precise" kiddo has got a numerable cute and sweet ideas in her little brain, just come up with your problems and she will be there to help you out with lots of unfeasible and few feasible alternatives, but she will be around you to make sure that the problem is solved. This ambitious but down to earth girl with a charming smile and sparkling eyes eases all tensions and worries within seconds. Another gem is ads,I have never seen a girl like her, who could understand my unsaid words with so much ease. No words can ever describe her importance in my life. The three of us came from three different regions of India, different in every aspect, be it thought process or attitude and approach towards life but there was one thing in common that brought all of us together. All of us wanted admission in biotechnology but weren’t offered due to already filled seats. On a serious note, we shared the same bond of never ending friendship right from day 1 of biochemistry class, sitting on the same seat enjoying the little fights and small teasers. Those days were just awesome.
The class schedules there were never so hectic. Reading only during exams easily brought us 80% aggregate, which left us lot of free time to chat, the discussions ranging from anything to everything. However, most of the time was spent in discussing Sasha’s boyfriend, our stupid teachers who could neither teach nor guide and the serious then but kind of kiddish now fights of ads and vivek .
As time passed, some really important things captured the attention of our daily discussions. Sash and ads decided to go for masters’ in the same stream showing their inner love towards the subject and started preparing for the same while I still was clueless about where should I go, what is best for me and how can I work on my ingrained and acquired skills and develop them to the best of my interest. While these people were deciding on their coaching institutes, my kashti was struck in a whirlpool of various career options, though I almost had decided not to go for technical stream. Had a number of sittings with friends and people pursuing different courses ( after all it was a question on my masters’), but instead of solving the issue, they became the source of more confusion. With 4th semester exams approaching and the books calling, I decided to put this issue on hold for a few more days which eventually extended to two months.
During my vacations, I decided to go for MBA. With a dream in my mind to do something that my parents planned years ago but weren’t able to due to a plethora of reasons arising due to my education requirements and the never ending demand list, eventually money became my top priority and seeing the amount of money in this field as compared to others, I made my choice. This reason may seem funny to a few because people generally don’t make their choice based on amount of money but their interest and growth in the field. However now that I’ve decided my career choice, though a bit late, I started my preparations without wasting much time and got so engrossed in the work that didn’t even notice when it was time for last and final semester exams and more importantly the time to separate.
With the exams approaching their end, the three of us also finalized our destinations for the next two years. Sasha got through NIRMA and in between, got engaged to her boyfriend. Nothing much happened between ads and vivek despite of the efforts made by both sasha and me . Their fights continued like always. Ads decided to settle in Noida with her parents and persue MSc. in Amity. I got through IBS Hyderabad while Vivek left for US after giving his GRE.
Now today when I am finally here, standing now on the pathway watching my MBA colleagues pass by in groups, I really miss those guys. The night outs at aditi’s place with ads busy on her cell phone all night with vivek (haven’t waited so long for anyone else till now) the shopping experiences with sasha ( and her expert bargaining skills) and lastly TANHA (the restaurant at which the three of us used to have rounds of sandwiches and cold coffee along with the then IMPORTANT discussions). Time has passed but the memories of those silly but Special moments are still very much alive in my heart.
Oh crap!! Its 8.30pm. Spending time relaxing and doing nothing productive is considered to be a crime here and you better know this before entering into an MBA college. It’s a race. You have to study even to get a C grade. The only thing people worry about here is not the learning experience but GAP (grade, attendance and placements) and they are mad about it. For us it was made even more difficult by going into 100% case study format with at least 3 cases of 20 pages each everyday. So even if u don’t want to, you have to study for almost 8-9hrs everyday and this I m talking about, is a very normal day when u have nothing much to do. Topping them, as the semester proceeds, will be assignments, projects, presentations, vivas, quizzes, tests and class participation grades. So I better should run back to hostel. Catch you guys later.
